frequently asked questions
How do I set up my camper’s roommate request?
Roommate requests must be sent AND accepted two weeks before your camper's week of camp starts.
Campers may have a maximum of six campers within their roommate request chain.
Go to www.woodlandscamp.org and click on Parent Portal. Login and click on “Registrations” then your camper’s name/week of camp, “Roommate Request” and “Edit”. You may either accept a roommate request by entering a request code that has been emailed to you or you may make a request yourself. To make a request yourself, enter the first and last name of the roommate and his/her parent’s email address. A roommate invitation containing a request code will be emailed to the other parent. The parent will use that request code to accept your request.
What do I do if my camper has a food allergy?
You can find our policies regarding food allergies on our health and safety information page. Our kitchen at Woodlands is a nut-free environment. If you have any additional questions, please contact our Foodservice Manager at foodservice@woodlandscamp.org.
Is there a difference between Traditional Camp and Xtreme Camp?
Yes! Traditional is a classic summer camp program. Traditional campers sleep in cabins, worship in the chapel, compete on the ball field, and swim in the lake. Xtreme, on the other hand, is an adventure camp. Xtreme campers sleep in treehouse hammock shelters in the woods and leave site each day to go on adventures such as horseback riding, hiking, climbing, kayaking, and rafting. They are back at camp in time for dinner and the evening chapel service.
Are there bathrooms and showers at the Xtreme Site?
The Yonah Xtreme site is just a short walk from bathrooms located in the Chapel & Trading Post. The Chattahoochee site has portajohns. Xtreme campers have time built into their schedule to shower each day in the cabins while the Traditional campers are at Free Time.
What should I know about packing for Xtreme?
We recommend packing your belongings for the week in either a duffle bag or backpack, but you may bring any luggage type you desire. If you have a hammock at home, go ahead and bring it with you! If you do not have one, no worries; we have extra available for use during your week of camp. Some campers like to bring mosquito nets or bug repellant bracelets to help keep the bugs away in the evening time. Typically, summer nights are not too chilly or hot, so bringing a sleeping bag, extra blanket and pillow should keep you nice and warm in the evenings. We also recommend bringing a flashlight or headlamp. There is no electricity in the shelters, so once the sun goes down, lighting is limited.
Are the excursions safe?
Yes! While every activity does come with some level of risk, we work to mitigate that risk by using professional guides when applicable and enforcing safety guidelines at all times. Our Xtreme staff are well-trained and campers are well-supervised.
Do Xtreme Campers go to chapel?
Yes! Xtreme campers will get to go to chapel every evening, participate in worship, and hear from one of our amazing speakers.
