It is our desire to make SALT as affordable as possible
Therefore, we offer SALT campers a chance to earn up to $200 worth of scholarships! To earn the SALT scholarship, you will need to complete any two of the six scholarship options below. Each completed task earns you a $100 scholarship from our Jean Galloway Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Instructions: Below are descriptions of the different ways you may earn a $100 scholarship toward your SALT fee. You may complete up to two of them. When you complete a scholarship opportunity, fill out the SALT Scholarship Form. All forms must be turned in 2 weeks prior to your SALT session.
Scholarship Opportunity Options
+ Quiet Time Journal
Description: Keep a journal of your quiet times by at least March 15th through two weeks before your SALT session. Write the date, the passage read, and the ONE THING you learned from the passage. Of course, you might miss a day here and there, but you must have at least 5 days out of every week (starting at least by March 15) recorded.
Submission: To submit this scholarship opportunity, simply fill out the SALT Scholarship Form no later than two weeks prior to the start of your SALT session. This will let us know that you have completed the scholarship. Upon completion of the form and approval by our staff, we will credit your account with the funds automatically. For this scholarship opportunity, MAKE SURE TO BRING YOUR COMPLETED JOURNAL WITH YOU TO CAMP. The journal will be checked upon arrival (We understand that this journal will be personal. We will not read every day's entry in detail. We will, however, read a few days at random and see that you did record an acceptable amount of days.) Please understand that a failure to bring your quiet time journal to your SALT session could result in a loss of your scholarship.
Goal: To cultivate a heart that loves and understands the Word of God and be able to look back on what God has taught you in different seasons of life.
+ Scripture Memory
Description: Memorize one of the passages of Scripture below. You must recite this to a parent, grandparent or guardian. Verses must be quoted word for word with a max of a one-word help per verse.
- Psalm 139
- Galatians 5
- Ephesians 6
- James 1
Submission: You must submit the SALT Scholarship Form at least two weeks prior to your SALT session. The form will require an electronic signature from both the camper and the listener to verify that the task has been completed.
Goal: To memorize how God tells us to live so that we may better follow Jesus.
+ New Testament Reading
Description: Read the entire New Testament between now and your SALT session (does not count if you have already read it. If you have, you must re-read it between now and your SALT session).
Submission: You must submit the SALT Scholarship Form at least two weeks prior to your SALT session. The form will require an electronic signature from both the camper and a parent/guardian to verify that the task has been completed. Here is a sample 40 day plan that is compatible with your smartphone using the YouVersion app.
Goal: To study the life of Jesus, the early Church, and to see God's design for living out your faith.
+ Church Volunteering
Description: Volunteer at your church a minimum of 20 hours between now and summer.
Submission: Have a church leader fill out our SALT Scholarship Form. They will need to sign and verify your volunteer hours electronically through this form.
Sample Ideas: Volunteering with the children's ministry, teaching a class, leading a small group, working in the nursery, going on visitations, helping out with your youth group, etc.
Goal: To develop a heart posture of selfless service.
+ Mentorship
Description: Find an older follower of Jesus, of the same gender, whom you look up to and ask them to mentor you. Meet a minimum of ten times before attending SALT.
Submission: Keep track of the dates on which you have met with your mentor. Once you have met at least 10 times, you can fill out the SALT Scholarship Form. On the form, you will be asked to give ten meeting dates and write a short paragraph about what you learned from meeting with your mentor. Please submit this form no later than two weeks before the beginning of your SALT session.
Goal: To sit under the wisdom and learn from the experiences of those who have walked with Jesus longer than you have.
+ Leadership Book
Description: Read "The Next Generation Leader" by Andy Stanley and write a short summary for every chapter. Then write a conclusion paragraph stating how the book impacted your life and action steps you want to take after reading the book. Please compile these summaries into a single electronic document. The book is available at a very fair price at amazon.com.
Submission: Once the task is completed, you will complete and submit the SALT Scholarship Form. You will see an option at the bottom of the form to attach your document for review by our staff. Once we have approved the summaries, your scholarship will be automatically applied to your account.
Goal: To learn how to practically lead in your current season of life.
